Youth Fitness
BIRC staff wants you and your family to experience activities and exercise that will help create lifelong memories and healthy habits. While the possibility of injury in any action is always possible, we want to minimize any risks wherever possible. Youth users must adhere to our policy of safety and facility use.
Youth Facility Access Information
General Facility Use Access
- All youth users under 18 must have a liability waiver filled out by a parent or guardian before accessing the facility.
- While inside the main building, children 12 years of age and younger must be directly supervised by an adult at all times.
Fitness Area Access
- Infants and children 9 years of age and younger are not allowed in fitness areas.
- Youth ages 10-12 must be directly supervised by an adult at all times.
- Youth ages 13-17* may be in the fitness areas unsupervised.
- Proof of age required.
- Proof of age must be provided upon request.
- Must have membership photo on file.
*Our Teens Intro to Strength Training class is not required to access the fitness areas but it is strongly recommended for all youth ages 13-17. Contact the Front Desk for further information.
Gymnasium Access:
- Children 9 years of age and younger must be directly supervised by an adult at all times.
- Youth ages 10-17 may use the gymnasium unsupervised.
- Proof of age required.
- Proof of age must be provided upon request.
- All members and guests must check in at the front desk before entering the gymnasium.
Steam Room and Sauna Access:
- Children 12 years of age and younger are not allowed in the steam room or sauna.
Facility Regulations
- Youth members and youth guests must abide by the BIRC Code of Conduct and all BIRC facility rules and regulations.
Additional Reminders
- All members and guests must check in at the Front Desk.
- Unauthorized use of a membership privileges will result in suspension or expulsion from the BIRC, including:
- Using the facility with an expired membership.
- Allowing someone to use a membership card that is not their own.
- Helping guests gain access without purchasing a pass.
- Please observe a 30-minute limit on cardio and strength equipment.
- When using equipment allow others to work in between sets. Do not sit on equipment between sets if others are waiting.
- No improper use of equipment that could damage equipment or cause injury to oneself or others.
- Footwear must cover the entire foot and fasten securely. Sandals and open backed shoes are prohibited.
- Workout attire must consist of top and bottom coverage through full range of motion.
- Filming and photography are prohibited in the facility.
- No running, loud behavior, horse play, or congregating in large groups in the fitness areas.
